American Opportunity Tax Credit

Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signed into law by President Barack Obama in February 2009, textbook and other course material expenses incurred in 2009 and after, and not covered by scholarship or grant aid, may be used as a tax credit on that year's income tax return.

For more information, visit American Opportunity Tax Credit.

Remember, students need to save bookstore receipts as proof of textbook purchases to qualify for tax exemptions. M State stores do not reproduce or reprint any previous receipts.
